Mission Trip In Your Own City

Last night I met with my Missional Community leaders and one of the things we talked about was the idea of doing a missions trip right where we live. How many times have you, or someone you know, gone on a short-term missions trip and upon returning home wished that they could live with the same sense of purpose in their own neighborhood?

We want to embrace and live into the truth that we are called to live out the gospel in word and deed in our own community. You may want to argue, “Do we really need to organize this kind of stuff? Can’t we just let people make it happen on their own?” I think that is a wonderful idea, maybe even ideal! The truth is that for many of us we need a little encouragement and guidance to get outside of our comfort zone and embody the gospel of Jesus Christ.
